Hating Sarah Palin Part II

October 10, 2008 06:58 by Todd Wills

I tell you what, if the Republicans are looking to energize their party, they should out this column in a mass e-mail.

The Canadian-born editor of Vanity Fair, Graydon Carter, takes cheap shot after cheap shot at Sarah Palin.

The entire column is a low blow and when it's not it's pretty much pyscho-babble from Carter, who comes across as the typical obnoxious New Yorker who thinks everyone else in the country is too stupid to make an educated decision.

As Tim McCarver would say, despicable.

Can't pass this up

September 25, 2008 17:34 by Todd Wills

This story on ESPN.com about the Seattle Mariners and a player wanting to punch Ichiro's "lights out" was no surprise here.

I covered the Mariners for three games in May or June for mlb.com and in 15 years of being in Major League Baseball clubhouses, it's the worst atmosphere I've ever been in.

There was one standup guy in that clubhouse: Raul Ibanez.

Erik Bedard and Felix Hernandez, the top two pitchers on the staff, have no interest in dealing with the media. Neither did it appear Ichiro.

Granted, it's hard to get a read from just tree games of covering a clubhouse, but this story adds confirmation.

Hating Sarah Palin

September 14, 2008 07:48 by Todd Wills

At least that's what The New York Times has become all about.

The Old Grey Lady has unleashed an embarrassing assault on everything to do with Palin. Maureen Dowd. Paul Krugman. Bobby Herbert. They are all in on the act. The Top 7 emailed stories on the newspaper's website are all hit pieces on Palin.

I don't really care if you're Republican or Democrat. This is one reason why no one reads newspapers anymore.

Oh and don't think for a minute you can have an email exchange with Dowd or Krugman or Herbert. They sit in their glass offices and sling mud and then when you email them you get a form email back, which is probably the biggest crock of all.

Now back to your regular programming.

Stand up Chuck Graham

September 10, 2008 09:50 by Todd Wills

You have to love Joe Biden.

He talks so much that he can handle any situation.

This reminds me of Fletch when Chevy Chase asked Fred "The Dorf" Dorfman to stand up in one of the great scenes in that movie.

What I'm reading

September 10, 2008 05:59 by Todd Wills

Wow, this is a really interesting article on ESPN.com by baseball writer Jerry Crasnick.

Of course having Scott Boras as one of your subjects always makes for entertainment.

Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback is always a must read.

 And let's not forget Mosley.

Week 1: High School Football

September 5, 2008 05:28 by Todd Wills

Let's talk Week 1 of the high school football season:

Here's an early Austin Avenue Report on TheOldCoach.com. I'll update again early Saturday morning.

And here's my weekly column for Vype.com.

And I can't not link to the great Tim MacMahon's weekly picks. That Tim still does high school football when he spends so much time covering the Cowboys says a lot about his passion for high school football. The Morning News needs more people like T-Mac.

Here's my take on a great game last night: McKinney Boyd 35, Frisco Centennial 28. The game had a surprise ending.

And here's what my good friend Brian Porter had to say about Plano 28, DeSoto 20.

I'd be remiss if I didn't put Keith Whitmire's gamer from the Plano game up.

And my man Matt Brown led Allen to another blowout win.

In case you missed it...

August 29, 2008 14:58 by Todd Wills

Here's an online column I started writing for Vype this week.

It previews the Plano West-Southlake Carroll game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday among other things.

It will run every Monday during the season.

Finding Justin Jordan

August 20, 2008 19:14 by Todd Wills

While some might say I'm the co-founder of the Rex "Superman" Burkhead Fan Club, before that, my favorite high school football player was another Plano Wildcat, Justin Jordan.

Well I ran this story down that mentions Jordan. Scroll down and you'll see that Jordan is one of the most highly recruited JUCO players in the country.

I of course always knew Justin had it in him, and only have to flash back to him blowing by current Texas A&M defensive back Jordan Pugh for a long touchdown in the 2005 Plano-Plano West game.

I've been trying to track down Justin for an interview and will continue to do so.
