Some random thoughts:

It drives me crazy when teammates make excuses for someone who doesn't hustle in baseball. Why in the world are the Devil Rays babying B.J. Upton?

He's basically a nobody at this point who's earned nothing from the game. Carlos Pena does the honors in this story.

Look, I have nothing against the Rays, who picked to finish over .500 in what I must say was a genius prediction. 

I had long discussion with two Rangers before Sunday night's game against Toronto --- Gerald Laird and Chris Davis.

Laird has two two-run home runs. Davis has 11th home run in a little over a month in the big leagues.

Laird has long been one of my favorite Rangers, probably because we're both Lakers fans.

Davis seems like a great kid. I had a long interview with the Longview native and will post some of what he said later.
