Inman to be an assistant at Arl. Bowie

July 24, 2008 05:07 by Todd Wills

Tom Inman, who led Plano to the 2006 Class 5A boys state basketball championship, has landed a job as assistant coach at Arlington Bowie, Inman told the TWReport on Thursday morning.

Inman was uncerimoniously pressured into quitting at Plano earlier this year over an allegation that he struck a female drill team instructor on the leg with a stick. Inman was put on paid leave on Feb. 29 and finally resigned in early April.

Inman will work under Bowie head coach Allen Gratts. It means Inman will go back to his roots of working with underclassmen on the junior varsity plus lend his teaching and scouting ability to the varsity. Bowie is a great spot to land. There is tons of talent in south Arlington -- Vernon Wells is just one of the outstanding athletes produced at Bowie -- and Gratts does a super job with his program.
